BLOG.

There is an area of wilderness just east of the Des Moines Creek Trail extending to South 24th Street and South 216th Street to the south end of the airport. This is indicated on the map to the left. At one time this was an area of fine houses and beautifully cultivated gardens. In the early 1980's this land was purchased by the Port of Seattle and all the properties leveled. Then nothing happened for 30 plus years. Mother Nature took over reclaiming the land. The shrubs, trees, and bushes reverted to the wild. There are still some concrete steps and fencing that remain, and abandoned vehicles, etc. This is a collection of photographs showing what Mother Nature can do when left alone for 30 years. These were taken during the summer of 2014. The land is now about to be leveled once again to make room for the Des Moines Creek Business Park. I hope these photographs will remain a legacy to what once was.
